ABOUT OUR RESEARCH Personal decisions have a lot to do with leading a happy and healthy life. The goal of our research is to understand the social and personality factors behind these decisions. Our approach is guided by theories in social and personality psychology that address the interplay of action and identity – where identity is examined as a cause, consequence, and sometimes an object to be shielded from our actions and decisions. Projects in our lab adopt a contextualist perspective. They are designed to test original hypotheses or answer research questions about the implications of personality or motivational characteristics for behaviour and decision-making in systematically varied situations. We use experimental and correlational research designs together with standardized tasks and multivariate statistical models to answer these questions.
